What is Orientation?

Orientation welcomes you to the UCT community, and offers a foundation for the journey you are about to embark on. You can access the various Orientation guides via the Orientation page on the UCT website. It is very important for you to attend all parts of the Orientation programme to make sure that you are prepared for your first year at UCT. Download the goals and objectives of Orientation here

Jammie Shuttle

The Jammie Shuttle is a quick and easy way to get around UCT’s campuses, and other central stops around the university. The Jammie is a free service, for registered students and staff. Be sure to carry your student card to use the shuttle. Check the timetable on a regular basis to be up-to-date on any changes in the schedule.

Student Societies

There are a variety of student societies on campus, to cater for a range of interests. While balancing your social and academic life is important, carefully consider the number of societies you join. There could be some costs involved, and you want to make sure you give your academic responsibilities enough attention. During Plaza Week on Upper Campus (see your Orientation Programme) many societies have stalls on University Avenue, giving you a chance to learn about these various groups.
